Museum

Today we took Bug and Bear to the Museum of Natural History. We wanted to go to The Living Planet Aquarium, however since it just moved locations, it will not be open until next weekend. As soon as we arrive at the museum, both kids started to voice their opinions about where to go first... "We want to see the dinosaurs!!!" We started out in the "dinosaur lab" where the workers gently make plaster casts of the newly unearthed dino bones. The kids had a try as paleontologists. They used large brushes to uncover the dinosaur bones that were buried in the gravel. After that they played with the games a little, and then it was off to see the Native American exibit. We looked at tools, shoes, and many other everyday items. The kids enjoyed playing in the teepee and also running from exibit to exibit to see what other neat treasures they would discover. Next we took a trip back into the front of the museum to feed "Al" the money eating dinosaur. Bear was a little nervous about sticking his hand into Al's mouth, but he finally worked up enough courage to try it. To their delight, Al began talking and growling at them. They loved it.

We eventually found ourselves upstairs looking at all the strange minerals of the Earth. AND FINALLY... THE DINOSAUR ROOM!!! One of the first things in the room was a seismic meter. The museum placed a target on the floor with a sign that says something like "Jump here to make your own Earth-quake." Well we all took turns jumping on the target to see how much of a reaction we could make. Then we all held hands and jumped together. I'd have to say Jeff won the Earthquake contest with his huge spike on the screen! After that our legs and feet were aching so we continued on. We saw all the different animals from the dino-age and some were quite strange. The kids ran around for a little bit picking up all the phones from which a voice explains the dinosaurs life... After that, we decided we were finally finished. After we managed to drag the kids out, (Bug was protesting leaving without a souvenir), we loaded them up and away we went. Not 10 minutes later, Bear passed out. Okay, one down... Then Bug crashed too! It must have been a fun day!
