It's hard to believe it's been 4 years already. I love you Jeff! You make me so happy!! :)

Amazing storm!

There was an amazing thunder storm on Sunday night. We had some pretty strong winds at our house, and when the lightning started, it was pretty crazy. There were several flashes all at once. The entire sky lit up, and as soon as the thunder started rumbling, another flash would hit. At first I was just sitting in my livingroom, with the curtains open, watching the show, and then after about 10 minutes I thought "What am I doing?! I should be out on the porch with my camera!" I've always wanted to get a picture of lightning, but that's not always easy. Sometimes it's gone too fast, or your camera is too slow. It took me a while to get my camera all figured out for night time, and get my tripod all set up, but this is the end result. I can't say I'm disappointed. :) I took several lightning shots, but since I wasn't actually looking through my camera, most were blurry or they didn't branch out like this one. This shot was almost perfect!

Feelin' the love!

I received an awesome compliment the other day from my friend Mandy. She's a dancer with the dance company Ballroom Utah.

So the other day, Mandy sent me a message and said that they have a performance coming up on July 16th and that the dancers would like me to come take pictures for the whole studio during the show. She told me that from all the pictures of their last show, everyone liked my pictures the best and would like me to take more! Talk about an ego boost!!

I'm going to try my hardest to attend, but since the boys will be in town, and I'm not sure of Tiffany's plans, (we always attend BRU shows together) I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it or not. Keep your fingers crossed!!

I edited this picture with Adobe Photoshop CS5. I combined the two bottom pictures, using the wildflower picture as an overlay onto the duck picture. Hard light, opacity - 80% then added a mask layer to that and erased the part over the duck, so that the picture pattern wouldn't show up on the duck. Then I flattened the image, and added vignetting. And voila!!

Bug and I were playing with water and food coloring, and I caught this interesting splash. Kind of looks like a platypus, doesn't it?

Hard to believe that the day before this, it was 74 degrees outside, and the kids were wearing shorts! This was some really heavy snow too, because it had rained before, so the snow stuck to the wet branches and turned to ice. We lost a tree in this storm. It tipped right over!

Ballroom Utah Dance Showcase

Yesterday Tiffany and I took the girls to go see Ballroom Utah perform. The dancers were all amazing and we had a lot of fun. I was trying to get some really good pictures, because one of the dancers is a friend of ours. Unfortunately, my flash batteries died after about 20 minutes. I was able to salvage a few pictures, but most just turned out too dark to be saved. Bummer.

Update

Hi all. I haven't blogged in a while, not much new to report. I'm waiting impatiently for the weather to get nice so I can go take lots of new photos. Meanwhile, I'm coming up with fun ideas for summer pictures. I've been feeling crafty, so I've decided to make Bug a fun "hippie" outfit and maybe a couple nice summer dresses. I can't wait to get the outfits finished and have a day warm enough to actually dress her up and get some colorful spring pictures.

We went to the zoo on Bug's birthday last month and unfortunately a lot of the animals were either inside for the winter, or moved to another location since almost half of the zoo is under construction while they rebuild some of the habitats. I still managed to get some fun pictures though and the kids had fun.

I was sick for over a month, but thankfully that's gone now, and Bug is almost over her cold as well. Then everyone will be healthy! Here's hoping for warmer temps, bluer skies, and healthy families!
