My weekend adventure.

Around 9 p.m. on Thursday night, I felt a gallstone attack coming on, so I headed to bed early in hopes of getting some sleep before the attack came on full force. Around 11:00 it had gotten bad enough that I came out to the couch to sleep on the heating pad. Usually the heat will help the pain go away enough that I can sleep. It wasn't working at all this time and the pain was getting unbearable. I've never had an attack that bad. I went and woke Jeff up and told him that if it got any worse, I would need to go to the hospital.

About a half hour later, I woke him again and asked him to get up with me. I wasn't handling the pain very well and it was starting to scare me. He got up with me and just watched as I cried and tried to get comfortable. After about 15 minutes, he went and woke his Mom up and asked her to come sleep on the couch so we could go to the hospital. I know we can't afford it but I've been putting it off for 6 years and it finally caught up with me. We arrived in the emergency room at 1:00 a.m and got me all checked in. The staff sent me into the lobby to wait until they had room. Finally around 2:00 they called me back for my vitals, and then it was back out to the lobby for about another 10 minutes. Once they got me into a room, I went through the usual pokes and questions. Then the doctor came in and I told him what was going on. He didn't really believe me, and thought maybe it was just a bad case of reflux. Either way he ordered an EKG and an Ultrasound for me. He also ordered some pain killers and a "GI Cocktail"... YUCK!

After the shots for the pain, I was instantly thrown into a burning headache, which the nurse said was normal. Then the room started spinning, and when I asked the nurse about that, he simply said "Yep, hold on for the ride." Blah. He mixed the GI Cocktail and said it was a mixture of Mylanta, Lidocaine, and something else. He named the green drink a "grasshopper" I must admit it was the nastiest drink I've EVER had. It burned, then turned nasty and after that I didn't feel anything because I was numb from the inside out. They did the EKG on me and everything was fine. Then they took me back for the ultrasound. A short time later, I was back in my room, trying to stay awake. The doctor finally came in and told me that the ultrasound did show some gallstones and my gallbladder was slightly inflamed. He recommends that I follow up with a surgeon in a week to have my gallbladder removed. He prescribed some Lortab for pain and Prilosec for my severe reflux. We didn't get home from the hospital until 4:30 Friday morning. I've been nauseated ever since. I was put on a NO fat diet for 2 days and then after that I'm supposed to be an a very low fat diet. I've had a migraine since I got home from the hospital. I took ibuprofen yesterday and it didn't help the headache at all so today I took 2 of my lortab. Instantly I was extremely nauseated, and dizzy. I went right back to bed. My head is still screaming, and I've been sleeping on and off all day. I feel like I've been run over by a truck! So it looks like I'm grounded this weekend, and there isn't much I can eat right now, so I've been living off of no fat cottage cheese, peaches, chicken broth, toast with honey (I can't have butter) and Jello. Well, at least this will help me to lose some weight.

A homeschool story.

The other day I was teaching my kids about important people in history. They learned about George Washington and how he signed the law so the Government could create money for us, they learned about Abraham Lincoln and how he freed the slaves... They learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and how he stood up for what was right and how he tried to end racism. They also learned about Rosa Parks and how she defended herself in a racist world. They seemed the most interested in Lincoln. They listened intently to the story I read and how I explained things to them. And now acording to them, Lincoln signed the "Mancipwation Brocolli-Nation" and freed the slaves. They can tell you that some people were very angry with Lincoln for freeing the slaves, and that one day Lincoln went to the theater with his wife and John Wilkes Booth shot him and then Lincoln died the next day.

I love how they soak up all of this new information and they are proud to share what they've learned... The next lesson? Pronunciation!!!!

Hmm lets see what happens when...

Today Bug thought it would be a good idea to hold Bear's Star Wars Spring Activated Light Saber toward her face and then push the button. The result? A black eye of course. Yep. Now my Darling Daughter has experienced a black eye, a broken finger and stitches... If this is what little girls do, what do I have to look forward to with my adventurous little boy?!?!? The bruise is tiny, but a shiner non the less. And with the combination of her black eye and her current missing teeth, Jeff says he's got himself his very own little hockey player! Bug thought that was pretty funny. This picture is from the next day. It's much darker now, than when she first did it. Ya know, it's not funny when your kids get hurt, but I honestly couldn't help but laugh when I saw what she had done. And now she's laughing about it as well.

A Little Late, But Here It Is...

"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!"
Bug lost her 6th baby tooth this morning. It's been loose for a couple months now, and we were all hoping it would come out before Christmas, but it had its own plans. Yesterday, she was eating a marshmallow sucker when she bit down onto the sucker stick. All of a sudden she came running in to me very excited and said that when she bit down, it broke her tooth really loose. After that there was no stopping her from attempting to get it out.
But after all her hard work, it was only half way out by bedtime last night. So she put her work on hold, only to resume again this morning. She came into the livingroom and sat down with a paper towel. She was wiggling it to no end, when all of a sudden I heard a loud POP! She was very excited as she shouted that she had gotten it out! Yay for Bug!!! Because she had yanked it, it caused quite a bit of bleeding so as she rinsed her mouth out, I rinsed the tooth off. Then she put it into her tooth pillow and we took some pictures. I gotta say she's got pretty good timing, because we're going to be taking our Christmas stuff down this weekend, so she was able to get her picture taken in front of the Christmas tree.
She is patiently awaiting the tooth fairy's arrival tonight!
6 teeth in 1 year... WOW!

Bear got his hair cut.

I didn't cut it as short as I was hoping to, but I had to stop because he had all he would tolerate. I'll finish it tomorrow I'm sure it feels much better, and when I cut it shorter, I'll be able to spike it and he's oh so excited about that. I tried to spike it today, but it doesn't look all that good.

I finished cutting her hair today. He didn't feel up to ANOTHER hair cut, but he sat still long enough. I love the way it turned out!

A little blurry but very cute!!! After the final cut today:
