A homeschool update.

The kids have been busy learning this year. They are doing very well on reading! They can read the simple books as well as some random sentences that I write down. They are learning to spell by sound, for example... Bug came to me this morning and asked me "Mommy, how do you spell Nest?" To which I said to her, "Sound it out..." Her: "Okay... nnnnneeeeesssstttt N...E...S...T...?" YAY! They can also tell you how many continents the Earth has, as well as name them. And the oceans as well! They can tell you the names of the Wright brothers, and what they're famous for. They can also tell you about Johnny Appleseed. We're having so much fun! Next week, we're making a compass, and they'll be reviewing Columbus since Columbus Day is in October.

A Tea Party!

The kids were playing in their rooms, and I could hear Bug talking to someone, so I went to investigate. This is what I found. She said she was having a tea party with her friends. She's too cute!

Fall Fun - Pic Heavy!

We did it!

Last Friday, the kids got to experience something they've never done before. They carved their very first pumpkins by themselves! All I did was draw a face, and cut off the top. They did all the design carving by themselves, and they did an awesome job! They both really enjoyed scooping out the "punkin guts" and getting to use the saw. We carved them outside and the weather was great. As they were carving, Bug noticed we had a visitor... A beautiful hawk was flying overhead, watching their progress.

A Blog Facelift

As you can see, I've done an overhaul on my blog. I got sick of the same ol' layout, so I went on a journey to find one worthy of being on my blog. I found a great site and now I'll never be bored with my layout again!

By the way, I've come to realize that I pretty much never get any comments on my posts. That leads me to believe two things... Either no one reads my blog, or I just don't post anything interesting enough to get a comment... Hmm. Sad...

Anniversary!

One year ago today, in the pouring rain, Jeff and I said "I do." I can't believe it's already so long ago! Today was wonderful. We woke up to the rain, (talk about a flash back) and enjoyed a really dark chilled morning, with a nice fire. Bear slept in, and Bug helped Daddy make breakfast. Then we took the kids to the Spirit Halloween store, and upon returning home, we brought out all of our Halloween stuff and decorated! I'm looking forward to having many more anniversaries like this one!

Fair fun

We took the kids to the fair on closing day this year. I won free tickets to go, but Jeff and I were feeling poorly on Saturday so we chose Sunday instead. I was disappointed to see that most of the animals had already been taken home, and unfortunately we didn't have the money to ride ANY rides, but we still had a good time. We watched the Tiger show, and saw the animals that were still there. The kids got to pet some piglets and a couple cows, goats and rabbits. We ate the traditional fair treats, like cotton candy, corn dogs, kettle korn, and funnel cakes! Next year we'll be sure to be more prepared financially.

Salt Lake City Mommies!

The Wonderful ladies of Salt Lake City Mommies made an appearance on Good Things Utah this morning. They did a wonderful job of representing! You could hear the ladies hollaring in the Audience. I wish I could have gotten a babysitter so I could have been there. Maybe some other time. We've already gotten some new members just since the show this morning! Jen and Heidi, you both did great!
